Read moreA revenue house is a house built with only one purpose: to get profit from apartments for rent. Decoration and style of such buildings depended mostly on owners’ parsimony – usually the only elegant thing about a revenue house was its façade that faced the street. Inner decoration was modest and windows were numerous and close to each other, so it would be easier to divide the space in more rooms for rent. In this category you will find the most interesting revenue houses of Saint-Petersburg, almost all of them were built before 1917 (the revolution/USSR).
